I don't mind at all. I hope the information I've put up here helps you somewhat. It's not complete but it does help me get a rhythm going. I'll be using this blog again this year for our next son who is beginning high school lessons also. :o)

Happy Homeschooling!

I am homeschooling my tenth grader and sometimes feel that I am overwhelming him with work. I noticed that your course load seems to be light compared to mine. For instance, in 10 th grade English you have the reading of one book and then answering all of the questions. I am new but can this way truly prepare them for college? I would love to use it if you have seen good results! Thanks in advance!

Hi Pam,

Thank you for your question.

I have to admit that our high school homeschool is a "bit" lean in some areas, but that is because our son was in college while we were homeschooling him for High School.

He began attending our local community college when he was 14 and graduated with an Associate of Business degree when he was Seventeen.

Cutting to the chase: In our homeschool we really focus on teaching math thru pre-algebra and how to write essays. Once they have that down pat, they go to college.

They begin college by taking one course per semester. They start with VERY easy courses....such as keyboarding, basic math, basic computer classes....and then as they mature they take the more "meaty" courses.

He is now 18 and off on his own. We have another son who will turn 14 on the 20th of this month. He will start college in the fall probably.

This is just how "we" do things. I really don't believe progress is measured in "how much" our child does. It is measured in what they know. Once they have the ability to read, write and reason mathematically...they're ready for college...in my opinion.

I know my thoughts are controversial but they are mine and that's the best I can do.

I hope that helps.
